Downranking healing spells #1
In TBC, directly using a high-rank healing spell on a low-level player automatically downranks the spell. However, when I use the spell selector in Healbot to select a high-rank healing spell and then try to use that spell on a low-level player, nothing happens (animation starts, but then quickly stops and no spell is cast).

Is there a setting or a way in Healbot to take advantage of healing spell downranking?

Currently using HealBot Classic TBC 2.5.1.2

Thanks!

Will have to take a look at that but for now you can try just using the spell name without the rank.
It will cast the highest rank and maybe it will auto downrank for lower levels.

Let me know how you get on.

I tried using the spell name without the rank, but HB always defaults back to displaying the rank after HB is closed and reopened or the UI is reloaded.

I removed HB and deleted ALL the data files so I could start with a clean HB install.

I pasted the following text into the spell import window and selected the "overwrite all" option:

Spells_v8202
Regrowth~1,1,1~Regrowth,false,true,true,false,
Rebirth~1,1,2~Rebirth,false,false,false,false,
Innervate~1,1,3~Innervate,false,false,false,false,
Rejuvenation~1,1,4~Rejuvenation,false,true,true,false,
Assist~1,1,6~C:B,false,false,false,false,
Target~1,1,7~C:A,false,false,false,false,
Abolish Poison~1,2,1~Abolish Poison,false,false,false,false,
Remove Curse~1,2,4~Remove Curse,false,false,false,false,
Healing Touch~1,3,1~Healing Touch,false,true,true,false,
Rebirth~1,3,2~Rebirth,false,false,false,false,
Innervate~1,3,3~Innervate,false,false,false,false,
Regrowth~1,3,4~Regrowth,false,true,true,false,
Assist~1,3,6~C:B,false,false,false,false,
Target~1,3,7~C:A,false,false,false,false,

After that I reloaded the UI and and checked the spells in the HB options. The spells, again, were displaying their rank and they would not downrank when cast on a lower level player (except for Healing Touch which works for some reason).

When I exported the spells, I got this:

Spells_v8202
Regrowth(Rank 9)~1,1,1~S:9858,false,true,true,false,
Rebirth~1,1,2~S:20748,false,false,false,false,
Innervate~1,1,3~S:29166,false,false,false,false,
Rejuvenation(Rank 11)~1,1,4~S:25299,false,true,true,false,
Assist~1,1,6~C:B,false,false,false,false,
Target~1,1,7~C:A,false,false,false,false,
Abolish Poison~1,2,1~S:2893,false,false,false,false,
Remove Curse~1,2,4~S:2782,false,false,false,false,
Healing Touch(Rank 11)~1,3,1~S:25297,false,true,true,false,
Rebirth~1,3,2~S:20748,false,false,false,false,
Innervate~1,3,3~S:29166,false,false,false,false,
Regrowth(Rank 9)~1,3,4~S:9858,false,true,true,false,
Assist~1,3,6~C:B,false,false,false,false,
Target~1,3,7~C:A,false,false,false,false,

On a side note I tested putting a simple "/cast <spellname>" into a macro and using that on a lower-level player and it didn't downrank, either. Only using a spell that came from the spellbook appears to downrank automatically.

If you come up with a workaround, I'd love to hear it! Thanks, again!

I will check that out, try using a macro.
Regrowth example
/cast [@hbtarget] Regrowth

Don't call the macro by the spell name, give it an alias and set that on the spells tab.

That's how I had it set up prior to this experiment and it worked great except when I tried to cast on low-level players.

The only reason I even brought this up is because I like to ninja heal when I see lowbies in trouble and I feel like a fool standing there unable to cast, LOL.

Let's face it, most people using Healbot will be using it to heal in dungeons or raids where they don't have to worry about lower-level players.

Thanks, again!

I cam here to complain about the same issue.

My mouseover macro will not work on the low level player, but my normal spell will.
Wince healbot works as mouseovers, it is just not working. Please develop a work around.

When I want to run my lower level friend through a dungeon, and they get hit, I hate not being able to heal them.
